We went to Coolangatta for the long weekend and stayed at the Twin Towns Resort on the New South Wales side of the border. It was a lovely place and we stayed on the 13th floor with a fantastic view over the sea in all but 270 degrees to the Gold Coast and beyond. What a great place - Jan commented that it felt like we were at Sun City... I went for three longish rides to Talla Budgera (sp) and did them in super quick time. Swimming and the usual visit to Mike's Kitchen and a few Castles were the order of the day, and lazy coffees and stroles around the town, and Ian and I did some fishing, he Packers, Ken and Sue as well as the Hart's (Ange's folks) and others.
Probably the thing I will remember is the fire truck coming down the road playing "Advance Australia fair" and everyone stopping, standing and singing back to them and waving.. Needless to say everywhere you looked there were Australian flags flying from buildings and balconies, cars and around the young guys necks. Girls in Australian flag costumes and bikini's. It was very festive and Ryan Holm and Dan Fox tried to do the carton for the day (maybe that's why they were so quiet the next day). This is becoming a bit of a tradition for us - second year in a row, and Jan says she is certainly wanting to go back again, it was just so relaxing and we were able to unwind big time. Lovely fireworks and weather as well.
So back to school tomorrow for Ian and this time to start High school at the Gap State High. He is very excited and Jan's sewing the pants now.....
