This blog is an attempt to keep up communication with family and friends, both in South Africa and Australia. It is a genuine attempt to mostly keep people who care to actually look at the thing, informed as to what the Ballantyne's are up to. It takes a lot of time and effort to post these photo's, information and updates, but, unfortunately, as I guess if you "put yourself out there" there will always be people who are inclined to feel it THEIR right to chirp about the topics, and pass judgement on why I say things or how.
To those who feel that way, I am sorry, please do not read my blog if it upsets you. I am just a little tired of having to justify why I say certain things, and as I sit here in Cape Town, I am so convinced we have made the right decisions over the last few years in moving to Australia. I do not have to explain anything to anyone. If you think I am Pro or anti Australia or South Africa, so be it. If you think I am slating South Africa by posting South African media articles on MY blog, I am sorry!, keep your head in the sand and enjoy it - I wish you well. If you think I am gloating, because we are in Australia, I am sorry!. It is not my intent. I did not anticipate the strong emotions people seem to have involving my Blog.
I have decided that I will stop posting for a while, reflect on the fact that nobody reads the thing in the main, and if they do, only have negative comment (bar one or two people mind you)and be done with it. For those of you who actually want to keep in touch, here are our mail details:

You can actually write to us or phone us should you want to keep in touch. I guess I will not push the button to delete this entire blog, because for me it has become a chronicle of our first two years in our trip so far. It is more cathartic to me than a serious indictment on the state of things either here or in South Africa.
Adieu and catch you sometime
Dave

Dave,
I understand how you feel. As you know we went through hell with certain family members and friends before we left.
Only one person has had the decency to accept that we are happy and that we may have made a good decision. The rest continue to ignore what we are doing and show absolutely no intersest.
Perhaps it is jealousy, inability to acccept other peoples decisions or just a South African guilt coming through.
We have all made a decision that is in the best interest of ourselves and our families. Australia is a much better place to live - full stop no debate.
It is a decision we will never ever regret.
I will miss reading what you guys have been up to!!
I guess I'll have to come visit now!!
Hey! I still live here and read this blog all the time! :P Maybe the reason no South African's read this blog is because most (if not all of) your friends don't have ADSL or understand what the hell a blog is..? Just a thought... It was so good to see you dad! Love Ryano
