I will post the pictures shortly, but Jan, Emma Ian and I went down to Coolangatta for the Australia day weekend, and stayed at the Greenmount Hotel for three nights. With us were the Holm's, Packers, Beavis's, Roy and Claire, Andrew Kriel and numerous others. We had a fantastic time...very hot and humid and lots of swimming in the sea, the pools and so on. Ian caught a fish when he and I went down to the pier, and we had a number of evening get togethers with everyone having BBQ's on the beach. I went for a ride on my bike each morning from Coolangatta to Tullebudgera and back (just over 35Km). Did some 10 pin bowling as well. We walked everywhere and frequently, all over the place, which I am sure will help the diet...Emmie had a Chinese massage, Jan and her went to see Miss Potter the movie and on Australia day, we ate Hamburgers (in the shape of Australia nogal..) - Okay, so you can all stick your fingers down your throats now, but the beach front was alive with about 50 cricket matches going on at the same time, hundreds of people and thousands of Australia flags. These Aussies are sure proud of their country no matter what anyone says.
Highlight was without a doubt, the meals we had at Mike's Kitchen...yep in Australia - together with Castle Larger (not able to have any myself) and all the Nederberg wines, together with the ribs and meals like Mosselbaai Steaks, Boerewors and the other favourites. The place is owned by a SA couple Bernard and Yolanda from Port Elizabeth, who we got to chat to extensively. Also was swimming and started to chat to an Indian guy (Kevin and I), only to find he came from St. Lucia, but has been in Australia for about 20 years - what a lovely guy - wanted to know what RSA was like nowdays.
We will be back next year I am sure, it was a lovely relaxing weekend
