I was very proud of Ian at cricket today, He went back into bat as if nothing had happened last week, and applied himself to digging in and making some good runs. He had to retire after he had faced 60 balls, and then came back and smashed the ball to all parts of the ground in an attempt to win the game for the team. They came so close, but drew the game in the end and he was 34 not out at stumps.
I was doing the team statistics so far for the season, and he has scored 107 already, and his first goal was to beat his best of last year and get over 100 runs. He still has two matches and potentially 4 innings to go - he now wants that 200 which is in his sights. He also has taken a few wickets and effected some great run outs in the field. One in particular was a direct hit from the covers to run out the opposition's best batsman. He's come far this year and I am just so chuffed for him (but maybe I am being biased as his coach......:))
