My biggest hero was and still is undoubtedly MY DAD, I recently discovered the following link, which will give you detailed information on his First Class Cricket career as a Western Province player and his first class record. I think all young boys seem to think their dad is a hero, and I have been thinking of him so much recently, especially watching My Ian Ballantyne playing for Valleys Districts, and wondering what Dad would have thought?. I'm jolly sure he would have been so proud of him, and interested in watching him develop. Well done Ian for being put forward for the Queensland representative team trials.

My other Sporting hero is undoubtedly LANCE ARMSTRONG. Cancer survivor and 7 times Tour De France winner (who is making a comeback) I have read ALL his books and just admire this man for his courage and strength, let alone his ability to focus and lead in such a competitive environment.

Then....my next Hero is a Businessman, SIR RICHARD BRANSON. These guys come around every now and again. Here we do not talk about an Internet millionaire, who fell with his backside in the butter, he worked so hard at making his fortune, he is excentric, goes against the grain in many ways, has vision and is an extraordinary visionary. If you have not read his books, Loosing my Virginity, I suggest you are maybe missing out on a great story of courage, entrepreneurship and strength.

Lastly...NELSON MANDELA....How can one not admire a person who was locked in Jail for 27 years for his convictions and then comes out to lead SOuth Africa into a new era in the countries history....and has not got a bad word to say about anyone?. Nobel Peace Prize winner, a hero to millions and leader that inspires a nation to perform at extraordinary levels. I will never forget him wearing Francios Pienaar's no 6 jersey, handing the World Cup (William Web Ellis trophy) to him in 1995. I will shed many tears when he goes one day, he is an inspiration and such a good example of the human spirit's will in the face of adversity.
