Let me get one thing straight, for those who think I an trying to get at them, this is not my intention. I am an African. South Africa is the land of my birth, and I still love and miss all the right and the wrong that it represents - good and bad.
We miss our friends and family dearly, and none of those who have remained behind will ever know the feeling of loss we feel daily. I am NOT trying to justify why we left South Africa, it was simple - I got a fantastic Job offer.
Those that know, will forget very easily I was facing NO job at the company I was with - so in truth, if the job was in Timbuctoo I would have taken it. I have worked in Saudi Arabia, Zambia, Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Australia, and visited the USA, most of Europe and some of Asia.
I belive we are in this day and age now GLOBAL CITIZENS.
Please do not see what I write as a personal affront. Jan and I have arguements daily with ex South Africans who feel hell bent on slating South Africa, I just get very sad. But remember there ARE two sides to every story.
