We took the plunge and bought our first investment property recently (although we are still to take settlement in a few weeks), unit 2901 Village Centre in Kelvin Grove (right on Emma's University grounds). This is a new development covering a whole city block, and includes an underground parking and lockup, is on the 9th floor (top) and has nice views of the city skyline on the one side and Mt Cootha on the other.
We were very lucky to get the place for the price I was able to negotiate, and they are already selling them for way more, giving us a nice amount of equity already. On top of it, the developers have allowed us to put tenents into the place (and it's not even officially ours yet!) so we are getting rent and are very fortunate to have a middle aged couple living there.
So , having dipped our toes in the property market again, we are feeling very chuffed with ourselves. We have extended the lease on 5 Bellerose Street for another year.
