We had a fantastic Citizenship Ceremony, capped off by a number of our very dear friends being there and taking the effort to support our family. We were asked to be one of the three "representative families" on the night, and there were 637 people who got their Australian Citizenship with us. On top of all that, I was asked to give an address to the audience on behalf of all the new Citizens. Whilst nervious, there were about 1500 people in the City Hall, it went off fine, and even the Lord Major and a number of the MP's and senior military officers came up to me and congratulated me on a great speech. I have added the text of my speech below. Phew...it took us 1297 days (by my calculations - 3 years 6 months odd) to become Aussies. Now only to apply for passports and the whole shebang will be over. Jan's new buddy is "Can do" Campbell Newman - the Lord Major of Brisbane...
