After having been told by the Lord Mayor this week to "not forget my roots" and to "celebrate my past" I decided to support the Springboks last night, mainly because I thought they would win, and secondly they have been playing some good rugby recently and they are after all the World Champions to boot....what a mistake. They played terribly, they deserved to be beaten and were, by a much better side that had a far better hunger for the game. I sang both the Anthems at the top of my voice and that upset the Aussies behind us, then the Boks nailed a drop kick and they said it was a soft option, booed the Boks etc, till the Aussies did the same thing - then they were hero's....I don't get it, am I the only one who apprecaites good sport regardless of who is playing it? Yes, I wanted the Boks to win, they did not deserve to, so I stood and cheered for the Aussies when they scored their tries, and because I was in a Bok shirt, the Aussies hated it.?? Then I was told I should go back to Johannesburg by an Aussie on the bus home. I asked him if he had ever BEEN to South Africa, what did he know about the place?, and he shut up. It's strange how South Africans hate Australians and Australians hate South Africans, just because of either a game of cricket or rugby isn't it?. It's so easy to point fingers, but one needs to remember that when you do so, there are always at least three fingers pointing back at you. Hey nobody died, and the sun came up on Sunday morning like it does every day regardless of who won.

Supporting the loosing team
